SCMET® AA/AMPS is a copolymer of acrylic acid and AMPS, contains carboxyl and sulfonic groups. With high calcium tolerance, it effectively inhibits phosphate scale and iron oxide deposition in oilfield water, boasting excellent dispersibility. It synergizes well with organophosphorus, adapts to oilfield's high pH/alkalinity/hardness, and is an ideal antiscalant for high-cycle operations.
Acrylic acid-2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid copolymer (AA/AMPS) is a water-soluble anionic polymer synthesized via free-radical copolymerization of acrylic acid (AA) and 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) monomers. It is typically supplied as a colorless to pale yellow viscous liquid, combining the structural advantages of both monomers with controllable molecular weight and moderate anionic charge density. Non-toxic and environmentally compatible, it is a high-performance multifunctional polymer widely used in industrial water treatment.
AA/AMPS exhibits exceptional scale inhibition and dispersion properties, with outstanding efficacy in inhibiting and dispersing insoluble mineral scales such as calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, and calcium sulfate, as well as iron oxide and sludge particles—its scale inhibition rate is significantly higher than that of single-structure polymers. It boasts ultra-high calcium tolerance, temperature resistance, and alkali resistance, maintaining stable performance under a wide pH range (6–12), high temperature (≤150℃), and harsh conditions of high salinity and high concentration cycles without hydrolysis or degradation. Additionally, it has excellent compatibility with water treatment chemicals like organophosphorus compounds, zinc salts, and corrosion inhibitors, producing remarkable synergistic effects when compounded to greatly enhance overall corrosion and scale inhibition efficiency, with low dosage and high cost-effectiveness.
AA/AMPS is mainly used as a high-efficiency scale inhibitor and dispersant in industrial water treatment systems, widely applied in oilfield circulating water, produced water treatment, refinery cooling water treatment, chemical plant circulating water, and high-pressure boiler feedwater treatment. It effectively prevents scaling, clogging, and corrosion in pipelines, heat exchangers, and equipment interiors, ensuring long-term stable operation of the systems. Beyond water treatment, it is also suitable for seawater desalination systems, industrial wastewater reuse treatment, and central air conditioning circulating water systems; in the papermaking industry, it serves as a paper strength agent and retention/drainage aid, in the printing and dyeing industry for dye dispersion and stabilization, and in the daily chemical field as a detergent additive to improve cleaning performance.
The price of AA/AMPS is influenced by multiple key factors: raw material costs (core being acrylic acid and 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid monomers, whose prices are closely related to petrochemical market trends and intermediate supply), product specifications (including monomer copolymerization ratio, molecular weight, solid content, and purity grade—customized copolymerization ratios or high-purity products command higher prices), and order quantity (bulk purchases are eligible for significant volume discounts). Transportation costs, regional market demand, production capacity utilization in the supply chain, as well as packaging requirements (drum/tanker bulk) and quality certifications (e.g., industrial grade/food grade) also impact pricing. For accurate and up-to-date quotes, it is recommended to consult suppliers with specific application scenarios and order details.
