Synthesis and performance evaluation of condensed polyether polyol demulsifiers
What is a demulsifier?
Demulsifier is a type of chemical agent specifically used in oilfield crude oil dehydration processes to separate oil-water emulsions formed after crude oil is extracted from the formation. It works by breaking the stability of the oil-water interface, promoting the aggregation and separation of water droplets in the emulsion, thereby achieving the purpose of crude oil dehydration. Among various demulsifiers, polyether demulsifiers are the most widely used in oilfields, which can be synthesized with different initiators such as amines, polyhydric alcohols and resins. To meet the requirements of rapid and continuous dehydration in oilfields, polyether demulsifiers often need to be modified (e.g., cross-linked modification with toluene diisocyanate) to improve their dehydration performance, such as increasing dehydration speed, increasing the volume of separated water and improving the clarity of separated water.
